Did you know that much of the antioxidant content of an apple is found in its peel? So you’ll want to leave the peel on when you eat it. Therefore it’s important to buy organic apples. They will be free from pesticides and other chemicals. Apples are one of the most pesticide-contaminated fruits (Source: ewg). If you use conventional apples, soaking them in a solution of 10 percent vinegar to 90 percent water should help to remove some pesticides.
- 1 tsp coconut oil
- 1tsp nut butter of choice (peanut butter, almond butter etc.)
- 1tsp pure maple syrup
For the chocolate version, just add
- 1tsp raw cacao powder(and you can leave the nut butter out, if you wish)
Cut the apple in half and carve out the center part. Fill with caramel/chocolate. Brush the apple slices with lemon juice, so they won’t turn brown. Place in the fridge, and cut into slices. Yummy!
